Conserving the soil
Grade: P5 Subject: English Lesson: Conserving the soil Unit: 2
Book: pupil’s book P5, page 5-6
Introduction
Every years our soil change sometime it’s because the different things we do or our climate. when we do our activities like to cultivate and many more sometimes they destroy our soil. so in this unit we are going to learn how to conserve the soil.
Objectives: By the end of the lesson every student should know:
- how to conserve the soil
- how to cultivate in good way
- how to use X0 laptop: like Etoys activity to make and edit text and also to draw, record activity to insert photo
- many words in English
- practice to speak English like conversation
Contextualization:
First, the teacher will give the students some books like 5 books, the students take the photo of terraced hillside from book and copy that photo in etoys page 1, must have title ” Conserving the soil” under that photo they must try to write what soil erosion is
Second, the teacher will copy that conversation between Francois and Vicky on the blackboard and the pupils will copy in etoys page 2 this will help pupils to practice typing and how to write some words in English but teacher must help them to understand that conversation and the meaning of words which are complicated
Then teacher will copy again the questions on blackboard and the pupils answer them in etoys page 3
After that, teacher will ask to pupils to draw picture of terraced hillside and picture of hillside without terraces and show us what happen to the crops if the rain rain to those 2 hillside
After that, teacher will give the pupils homework to memorize that conversation and next day 2 students must go in front of other pupils repeat that conversation one must replace Francois other must replace Vicky
How to use the X0 laptop in this lesson:
In the laptop the student will use Etoys activity and Record activity in this lesson of Conserving the soil.

WRITING NUMBER AND ADDITION UP TO SIX DIGITS
Grade: P5 Subject: Mathematics Lesson: Writng number and addition up to six digits
Unit 1 Book: pupil’s book P5 page 5-6
INTRODUCTION
Before the students know how to write numbers they must know how to read that numbers so that why they can use X0 to know how to read before to write and then it’s good to know to add numbers using their heads but it’s good also to know to add using laptop. in this unit we are going to do these using laptop
Objectives: By the end of the lesson every student should know:
- to read numbers
- to add numbers using X0 laptop
- Using speak activity to read numbers
- Using calculate activity to add numbers
-Using writy activity to cpy numbers in words to ythe blackboard and then write in figures
CONTEXTUALIZATION
First, the teacher will copy the numbers in words to the blackboard and the pupils will use speak activity how to read that number and then pupils open write activity try to copy numbers in words and at side they have to write that numbers in figures.
ADDITION NUMBERS, first teacher must teach pupils how to add without laptops using their heads and then it’s good to teach pupils how to add numbers using X0 laptop because they can need it sometime.
Second, teacher will copy numbers to add to the blackboard and pupils open calculate activity start to add numbers.
HOW TO USE X0 LAPTOP IN THIS LESSON:
After teacher finish to copy numbers in words to the blackboard. for example :
-Four hundred twenty five thousand
-Three hundred seventeen
- Four hundred twenty five thousand, three hundred seventeen
And then pupils open Speak activity.

TEACHER’S TRAINING
You can use XO to teach all lessons which we find in these pupils’ book using many activities like Etoys, Record, write activity, memorize, turtleart activity and many more
so for example:

I am going to teach students of P 4 English, I am going to use book of English ” Pupils’ book 4″
Unit 17, page 60 my lesson is the parts of a house. here i can use memorize, i can do like game and the students match the picture and the name. this can help students to memorize the parts of house.
and i can take the picture of the house in record activity and copy it in etoys and the students must write the parts of house and then i can ask them the questions according the picture
for example of the questions:
1 Have they put the roof on the house?
2 Have they built the walls?
3 Have they put in the windows?
4 Have they put in the doors?
of course they must write answers in their laptops under the pictures and questions

Now i am going to teach English in Pupil’s book 4
Unit 20, 70 pages
my lesson is about yourselves
Here i have to do is to give the students books and read the story on 70 pages after reading and answer the questions the students have to write their own story in write activity and ask them to think of things they could and could not do last year and things you can do now but using the table. that can help the children to learn more about write activity.

Now i am going to teach English in Pupils’book 4
Unit 12, 42 pages my lesson is Drawing pictures
here want i have to do is to give the students the text from in the book on pages 43 and then what they have to do is to read the text and draw in paint activity according the text. this can help the students to study English and study more about paint activity.

Monday in moning we was at kagugu in P5B. the staff was Desire, whitney, Elisee, Jean claude, Robert. we tried to explain students about community problems. we asked them to tell us what they think about community problems and the problems that our society have. they told us many ideas like corruption, violence, over population, deseases, …..
we tried to explain well about their ideas they gave us. when we finished that we gave them home work . home work is to choose one in the ideas that they gave us, for example: he/she can choose over population he/she must talk more about over population ( why over population, bad consequences of over population, how can we against it but they must use their laptops
AFTERNOON: 1:00 pm i was in P4A and 3:30 pm iwas in P5A ( computer support time)
In P4A i was with teacher Venant, we tried to teach the students how you can take the picture in Record activity and how you can copy that picture in write activity and i tried to explain all problems that the students had. for example: the students didn’t know what is clipboard.
IN P5A, i was with teacher Bernadette. we gave the students the text to write in write activity but using table. it was very difficult to the students but we tried to explain them how to do that.
CONVERSATION
After that i had a conversation with teacher Venant. I asked him what the different between before that laptops came in that school and in this time of laptops. and he answered me ” it’s really different because before these laptops the students took all lessons like usually, they slept, they shouted in the class they was not interesting in their lessons. but now all students are interesting in the lessons because these laptops it mean all students have thirsty to these laptops. But he told me that they are some problems that they meet them like short time and they are many students it’s difficult to check all student if they understand because of short time he sayed if possible they can give them long time of laptop. and he told me they are happy when we are there because we help them to check the students if they undestand and to teach because they are many students in class. he sayed it’s difficult one teacher to 60 students.
He asked me to help him next time to teach comparison using laptop. for example: big, bigger, biggest.

Wenesday and thursady, we was at nonko in the club of music. the staff was Jean claude, Jimmy, Avram and Tiffany.
Our ambition was to check that all children know to use Record activity( video, audio, photo) and to make all students to feel free to do every things without fear.
HOW WAS DONE
We entered in the class and we made the circle with children then everyone had to tell his/her name and tell us anything he/she likes in his/her life then he/she had to do anything about music it can be to dance, sing …. when we finished that every students had to go on audio and we sung the songs and the students recorded that songs.
and then we divised the students in 4 groups and we gave that groups 10 minutes to go out to prepare song but they had to dance that song and they had to use video to record what they do. after 10 minutes they came back in the class they show us what they have recorded and present it infront of other groups it was competition. and they tried to take some pictures
In actual sense we had a good time there. and we hope next time , it will be better than that.
” what i saw is that the students have fear when they are using laptops”
